3-D Flower for the Wild Card Challenge

I wasn't sure what I was going to do for the JUGS Wild Card Challenge (#69), which was to create a 3-D Flower.  I have a rose die-cut, but I'm still trying to figure it out. J  So here is what I came up with.

Closed up of the flower.
I stamped the flower on the background, and on three different shades of blue.  Fussy cut the flowers and put a button in the center of each flower, and tied it together with black twine.  I was originally going to use Yellow Stickles for the center of the flowers.  Then I remember I just bought a big bag of buttons last week.  The bag contains a variety of buttons, but no two are alike so we have 3 different colors for the center of the flowers.  I'm glad I went with the buttons.

This card was created for two different challenges.  The colors came from Moxie Fab World Trigger Tuesday: Sweets for Sweets, and the design came from The House that Stamps Built RI Sketch J2611.

I didn't make a Valentine's Day card because I already have more than I need.

Got-to Challenge ...

This is the first time I designed a card for the Go-to Challenge.  This weeks challenge was to create something using BasicGrey's Hopscotch collection.  I created a Thank You card.
The butterflies along the top of the card is a sticker from the Hopscotch collection.  I layered the tag sticker over cardstock to add more depth, which also makes it stand out more.  I covered the butterfly on the tag with a sparkly butterfly.

While a lot of people were at the CHA Show in California I was home playing in my craft room.  I designed the "You're so thoughtful" card for the Colour Q Challenge #69.
I created my own paper for this card using the DeNami Small Bouquet.  I embossed the bouquet and the sentiment.  The paper was colored with Copic Markers, and I used a Peach Gel Roller Pen for the ribbons and the heart in the sentiment.

Smile for Sketchy Sunday

After creating my sympathy card yesterday I needed to make a cheerful card.  Tiffany from i{heart}art put out a Bonus Sketch for the Sketchy Sunday Challenge on Tuesday this week.  So I created my cheerful card for this challenge.

I used the Gina K Designs Spring Mix to create the same background from yesterday's Sympathy Card, and changed up the colors I used going over the flowers.  I like how I can use the stamp to create my own paper.  The birds and sentiment are from Lawn Fawn Fly Free, and the banner is also Lawn Fawn's and is part of the Bannerific set.  I used a pearl instead of a button for this card.

Here is the Bonus Sketch ...

Products used ...
Stamps:  Gina K. Design Spring Mix, Lawn Fawn's Fly Free & Bannerific
Paper:  Bazzill
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Blank & London Fog,
Copic Markers - V17 & YR12 for flowers, B00 & C1 for the birds on the left,
and B00 & B66 for the birds on the right.
Other:  Recollections Pearl Stickers
Tools:  Trimmer, Fiskars Easy Grip Scissors, Adhesive, and 3/16" Mini Glue Dots

Sympathy Card

I really don't like making Sympathy card, but sometimes we have to.  My husband's Uncle passed away yesterday and this card will be given to my hubby's cousin.

I created this card using the colors from Curtain Call Color Challenge - Act #66 and the sketch from The Paper Players Challenge #31 - Sketch Challenge.

I created my own paper for this card using Gina K Designs Spring Mix and Memento London Fog ink.  I used copic markers to color over the flowers with BV01, and I used R29 for the center of the flower.  It's not my best work on the rest of the design.  However, knowing that I was fighting a migraine as I finished this I'm happy with the results.  Even the slightly crooked sentiment.

Party Invitation ...

Updated Thursday, 01/27/2011

I said earlier today that I would have another post today.  This post is not for any of the challenges that are currently out there.

I wasn't thinking about challenges when I created this invitation.  However, tonight I just remembered that Wee Memories is having a Free for All Challenge (#40) this week.   I decided to submit my inviation for this challenge.

I wanted to share with all of you the project I've been working on for over a week now, which I just finished tonight.

The week consisted of designing two different invitations.  A FUN invitation, and a Sofisticated Invitation.  Of course while I was waiting for the decision on which design was going to be chosen I had fun making cards for the different challenges going on.  Finally received the go ahead today to finalize all the invitations.

Please be aware that I altered the picture(s) using Paint to protect the clients personal information.

Picture of ALL of the invitations.
Colors used ... Burgandy, Gray, Red and Cream.
The Gray looks purplish in the picture.  I hate when that happens.

All I have left to do is create a mail-merge with the addresses I was given, print the envelopes, and drop it into the mail tomorrow.

Here is the FUN Invitation that they chose not to use.

I know that the couple the party is being held for really liked this card.  It's cute!

Here’s to hoping that my design provides you with some inspiration to go forth and create!

A Winter White Wedding Card

Updated Thursday, 01/27/2011

I have a couple of Weddings this year so I designed a Wedding Card for the Catch the Bug Bugaboo Show us Your Winter Whites Challenge.  The big wedding is going to be my son's. J

I've been so busy that I forgot that Wee Memories is having a Free for All Challenge (#40) this week.   I'm submitting this card for that challenge also.

I purchased a couple of Bugaboo Digi Stamps with a Wedding Theme. I chose the "Our Wedding" Digi Stamp, and used Copic Markers to add a bit of color to the photo.  The paper used is Bazzill White & French Vanilla, along with Paper Studio White & Cream.  I fussy cut the frame from cream cardstock and used adhesive to layer over the white frame.  The lovely embossed tiny hearts is from the Cuttlebug Love Language set.  The frame was attached with 1/4" Pop Dots.  The final touch was the Offray 5/8" Wire Edge White Ribbon.  I'm getting better at making those bows.

My trick for having the bows look nice.  I turn the card upside down and then tie the bow.  I can't seem to tie a bow while the card is right side up and have it turn out nicely.  It took me many times to figure this out!

Here’s to hoping that my card provides you with some inspiration to go forth and create!

Thank you

This Thank You card was created for the Off the Wall Craftiness - Challenge #42.  I love the bright colors; they go together so nicely.

The papers used for this card are Bazzill and Paper Studio.  The sentiment stamp is from Studio G, and I inked it with Memento Tuxedo Black.  EK Success Punches were used to create this card ... the Deco Scallop and the Flourish Square. They blend very well together.  The ribbons used are Offray White 5/8" Wire Edged, and Orange from the Paper Studio Pastel Pack.  The gems are Darice, and were added once the card was completed.  It needed that little extra something and the gems did the trick.  1/2" Pop Up Glue Dots were used to attach the sentiment, and regular adhesive was used to put the card together.

Now for both of the inspirational pictures ...

Such a lovely photo.  I had fun creating this simple card for the challenge.

Here’s to hoping that my card provides you with some inspiration to go forth and create!

I've been working on Thank You cards lately to pass on as a gift to my son, Nick, and his fiance, Lauren.  Since I am only making one card, of each type, they will be getting a variety of cards to use.

This card was made for the House that Stamps Built CASE J19 Challenge.

Nick and Lauren love animals.  They have a beautiful dog named Winston, and a horse named Stryker.  I just know that they are going to love this card.

This card also has a first for me.  I used buttons!  Practicing for the DeNami blog hop coming up next month.

I found this cute patterned paper while at JoAnn's yesterday.  It's from the DCWV "the Pets Stack".  The other paper used is Bazzill and DCWV "the Dots, Stripes & Plaids Stack".  I can't wait to use some of the other papers from these DCWV Premium Stacks.  They are very cute!  The sentiment was created with Lawn Fawn's Jessie's ABC's, and stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The Silver Book Plate is from JoAnn's Scrap Essentials, and the Dog Bone Buttons are from Blumenthal Favorite Findings Furry Friends Pack.  The ribbon is from American Crafts Premium Ribbon pack, and the Black Twine is from American Craft.

I changed up the CASE card, just a little.  Here it is ...

Such a beautiful card was created by Joy Hadden for us to CASE.  Thank you Joy!

Here’s to hoping that my card provides you with some inspiration to go forth and create!

Stylish Blogger Award from ...

Back on January 19th, Carla from Carla's Scraps, awarded me with the "Stylish Blogger Award".  Thank you for the honor Carla.  I'm so sorry for the delay in posting the award you gave me.

Between making cards for quite a few challenges, and working on invitations (30+), I sorta forgot.  Oops.

I think I'm supposed to tell you a little bit more about me.

Here goes ...
  • Ever since I was a little girl I've loved working with my hands.  I was either drawing sketches during my teen years, crocheting, sewing, painting (walls around the house), or paper crafting.
  • I'm an avid reader. Mostly Romance Books, but I throw in some mystery and murder along the way.
  • I was an active member of the Laremont/ELS Parent Teacher Federation for Special Needs Students in Lake County IL for 15-years.  I created the monthly newsletter for 5-years, and a quarterly newsletter for 2-years.  Worked on the Auction Committee for 15-years, mainly on reservations and publication of the invitations, raffle tickets and program books, and I also worked the night of the event.  I stepped down from the different positions I held when my daughter transferred out, at the beginning of the 2010/2011 school year, to a Transition Program within the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) family.
  • I will soon have another daughter.  No, I'm not pregnant.  My son, Nick, recently proposed to his girlfriend of 3-yrs, Lauren before going to a Black Hawks game 3-weeks ago.  I knew he ordered a ring before Christmas and I'm so happy she said "YES"!  Even before the engagement Lauren has been an integral part of the family.
I believe the next step is to pass on the award.  There are soooo many blogs that I think are awesome, and I really can't pick any one at this time.  Sorry!  However, I would like to send this award out to those who follow my blog.

I really appreciate all of the lovely comments I receive from everyone who visits.

As always, I hope that my designs provide you with some inspiration to go forth and create.

Thank You

A card for just 1 challenge.  Shocking, I know since I've been combining a lot of the challenges recently.  There are just so many out there that i like and it's hard to make a card for just 1 challenge.  Surprised myself when I created this card for the Play Date Cafe Color Challenge #65.

This was a very simple card to create.  I pulled out my cardstock and pulled the colors for this challenge.  Paper products used are DCWV Gray, Paper Studio Orange and Greens, and DCWV Citrus Stack (orange flowers).  I used the EK Success Arch Scallop Punch on the Greens. Then all I had to do was the layering of the colors.  The sentiment is Lawn Fawn and was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on gray scrap paper, and then punched with the EK Success Photo Labels Punch. I punched a hole in the upper lefthand corner, fed the yarn (also from Lawn Fawn) thru the hole, tied around the layered cardstock, made a bow, and adhered to the base card.  I then added some bling - Hero Arts Gems.  I think it draws the eyes to the sentiment.

Here is the inspirational photo ...

I just love this picture.  It's so cute!

Here’s to hoping that my card provides you with some inspiration to go forth and create!

Happy Easter

Another Easter Card today.  The colors for the Moxie Color Inspiration for Card Markers Week, the Monochromatic Color Challenge, are just perfect for Easter.  I incorporated the Repeat Impression What IF? Wednesday ~ Sketch Challenge J1211 for this card.

When I saw the colors for this Moxie challenge I knew they would be perfect for Easter.  Combine it with the RI Sketch and I knew I had a perfect couple.

Close up of the Super Cute Bunny Border.
This photo doesn't match the actual color behind these guys - it looks like bright pink here.
I just got this cute Bunny Border from DeNami, and the sentiment is from Archiver's - Stmp-NW Cool Dot Happy Easter.  The paper products used is a combination of Bazzill and DCWV Brights Cardstock. I used the EK Success 2-1/4" Scallop Circle, and the Creative Memories cutting system for the small circle.  I inked the stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black, added the Star Dust Stickles for the cotton tail on the bunnies, and then used Copic R85 for the noses.  The ribbon is Paper Studio and the Pearls are from Hero Arts. Adhesive and 1/2" Pop Up Glue Dots were used to put this card together.
